Part of my Drawings on Demand project, 15 minute portraits are a way of challenging my skills under a specific set of rules while at the same time providing you with a useful illustration of yourself or a loved one. In fact, these drawings don't have to be portraits! They can be of anything you want. There are three simple rules.
  1. They cost you $15.
  2. I spend exactly 15 minutes creating each one.
  3. I work from the reference material that you provide me.

Of course, if you want something that's a little more than a simple line drawing, or you'd like me to try a particular drawing over again, I can work with you on that.

Ordering Instructions

email me with your instructions, including a .jpg, .gif or .png attached of your reference photo. Then send me your money (I'll be able to accept credit cards soon), by sending me check or money order to Grass Dog Studio, P.O. Box 2363, Bellingham WA 98227-2363. I'll start work on your project right away, but I will send you the drawing upon receipt of your payment. Remember to include your email address with your payment, so that there is no confusion.

For that $15, you get two digital files. One large one, a .tiff, that is suitable for printing, and one small one, a .png, 100 by 100 pixels suitable for use in web forums as an avatar or LiveJournal icon. If you'd like a different kind of file, though, just let me know! It's no extra effort for me to save it as a different file type or size.

Unless you request otherwise, however, I keep the original drawings on file as part of my portfolio. If you'd like the original drawing, I'll send it to you in a frame for $10, or unframed for free. Just let me know if you want it, and how.

As for rights, I consider these drawings to be works of graphic design. As long as the image is not a violation of someone else's copyright or trademark, you own the image. I simply retain the rights to use the image for promotional purposes, to either show them in public displays or to print them in books and other material. This means that these drawings may be useful as logos or trademarks.
Styles:

The drawings that you see above are my default style. However, I'm eager to attempt or imitate any style you may wish me to attempt. Simply provide me a sample of the style you'd like the drawing to be in, along with your reference photo. Soon, I'll have samples of the different kinds of drawings I'm capable of doing here.
Rates:
  • one 15 minute line drawing (any style) - $15
  • one 15 minute color drawing (using chalk pastels, crayons, colored ink, or paint) - $30
  • one 15 minute digital drawing (B/W, using my wacom tablet) - $10

Options:

  • for each re-drawing of an original 15 minute drawing - $10
  • basic digital coloring job, or color retouch, on an original 15 minute drawing - $10
  • framed original of an original 15 minute drawing (not available for digital drawings) - $10
